Intro A place of new music and play that could exist neither in tradition nor contemporaneity Synopsis Order-made Repertory Tam (貪) is the third project of Lee Hee-moon Company, Review "The audience, who are usually sitting down, all jumped on to the stage. Shaking their bodies and making noise, they looked like they were at a concert. A solemn theater turned into something similar to a club at Hongdae area in Seoul. Neatly dressed in white suits, the performers owned the stage, sometimes voluble and sometimes with a deadpan expression. Strong beats of electronic music was heard in the background and the singing voices were filled with sadness unique to Korean traditional folk songs. It even felt dreamy when the sound of Haegeum was added. Ahn Ho-sang, president of National Theater of Korea, emphasized: 'The young generation is free from the idea that we must preserve the tradition even though it is not fun anymore. It is really opening a new horizon for our tradition.' Photos and video Creator / artist The Lee Hee-moon Company, led by Korean traditional lyrical storyteller, or sorikkun, LEE, Hee-moon, is made up of singers, musicians, and dancers from a variety of disciplines. Lee's performances attempt to create a hybrid of genres, taking the vast repertoire of folk songs, or minyo, of Gyeonggi-do as motif. Lee brings Korean traditional vocal music, which has been sidelined in the Korean art world, to the core, and mixes it with art forms of different kinds. The result is a distinctive sound that suggests to the audience a new way of appreciating vocal music. Promotion Infomation
